The emphasis on cost, reliability and durability in the aerospace and aircraft industry has resulted in an increased demand for porous PTFE products.

FluoroFlex™ ePTFE offers a unique combination of desirable properties:

  • Temperature resistance -200˚ C to 260˚ C
  • Smooth non-stick low friction surface
  • Chemical resistance
  • Mechanical strength
  • Durability
  • Controlled microwave DK
  • Low electrical dissipation

ePTFE provides an excellent solution for the extreme variables within the aerospace industry. Although ePFTE can lose some flexibility below freezing temperatures, it still retains its lubricity, abrasion resistance, and strength. Extensive testing has shown that ePTFE is among the best materials to use where extreme temperature fluctuations occur. ePTFE has a working temperature range of -200˚ C to 260˚ C and shows little or no increased brittleness to -200º C.

The primary uses for these high performance materials include:

  • Seals
  • Valves
  • Gaskets
  • Spacers
  • Insulation
  • Diaphragms
  • Cable guides
  • and other parts used in the aerospace industry

Outstanding chemical inertness in aggressive environments, excellent thermal resistance, and non-stick properties throughout a wide range of temperatures makes ePTFE the ideal material for many critical applications.
